Finis Hortorum
The charming family estate of Finis Hortorum is situated on a large, partly hilly, plot of 7,000 m² near the Provençal village of Rians. The beautiful area is the Haut Var Verdon, situated in Provence. This charming region remains largely undiscovered by tourists. Picturesque villages, nestled against a hillside, known as Villages Perchés. The characteristic country house has 5 comfortable bedrooms (all with air conditioning) and 5 bathrooms, and can accommodate up to 10 people. The stunning surroundings and your own private swimming pool make this the ideal holiday spot for two families or a group of friends to enjoy all the best that Provence has to offer. Rians is about a 50-minute drive from the famous Gorges du Verdon and Lake Sainte-Croix. The town of Aix-en-Provence is a 40-minute drive away, whilst the Mediterranean Sea is just over an hour’s drive away. For walkers, there are endless beautiful walking routes, including the Grande Randonée 99.

For guests with reduced mobility (max. 2 people), the ‘Atelier’ may be hired as an additional accommodation. This is a small ground-floor flat in the annexe with its own kitchenette and bathroom. Rental price: €1,100 per week.

Layout
The house, measuring approximately 330 m², has a living room and a spacious kitchen-diner with a large gas hob and electric hobs, an electric oven, a microwave, and a family-sized fridge and freezer. There are five bedrooms, each with two single beds (hotel-style beds) that can be pushed together to form double beds. The beds are made up, and each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin. The TV room is equipped with a flat-screen TV.
There is an outdoor kitchen equipped with a barbecue and a long oak table, with plenty of seating.
On the first floor, you’ll find a small library, board games, a flat-screen TV with French channels and a Blu-ray player. There’s also a work area with a worktop and plenty of sockets, so you can charge all your mobile devices. Internet/Wi-Fi is available free of charge. On-site parking
The grounds feature centuries-old oak trees and a mature garden landscaped with Pierre de Ronsard roses and oleanders. A generously sized, inviting swimming pool provides the (sometimes!) much-needed cooling relief. There are several sun terraces surrounding the house. Furthermore, the undulating grounds feature lovely spots with seating areas from which to enjoy the magnificent views. It is a beautiful property in a stunning location. The adjacent old chapel houses a separate shower room and an additional toilet. A washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron are available for your use.
The swimming pool measures 11 x 5 metres. The depth slopes from 1 metre to 3 metres.
There is a table tennis table in the shade of the oak trees and a pétanque court.
The house is let to a maximum of 10 people. All members of your party must hold a swimming certificate. Children under the age of 6 may only use the swimming pool under adult supervision. These are the safety regulations set by the French government.
There is a second property on the grounds which is not let out whilst you are staying there. You therefore have complete privacy.
Pets are permitted by prior arrangement, up to a maximum of 2. Pets are not allowed on the sofas in the lounge, nor in or on the beds. Pets must not be left unattended in the property. Please bear this in mind when planning your daily schedule. Guests are required to keep the grounds and garden tidy.

Area
The village of Rians is situated in the rolling hills of Provence, at the very tip of the Var, where four departments meet: Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Var. In Rians, you’ll find two bakeries, a butcher, a supermarket, a GP, a chemist, a dentist, a vet, two cafés and a few restaurants. The impressive Church of Our Lady of Nazareth in Rians is certainly worth a visit.
Larger supermarkets can be found in Saint-Maximin-de-la-Baume (about a 20-minute drive). There is a lively Provençal market here on Wednesday mornings.
Restaurants in the immediate vicinity: In Rians, Hostellerie de L’Esplanade and La Roquette. La Bergerie in Ginasservis. In Varages, the local restaurant Le Provence.
In the immediate vicinity of Rians, you’ll find a number of lovely wine estates producing fine and delicious wines. Definitely worth a visit for a look round and a tasting. These include: Château Vignelaure, Château Revelette, Domaine des Toulons, Domaine des Toulons, Domaine la Realtiere, Abbaye de St. Hilaire, Chapelle de Ste. Bacchi, Château Pigoudet, Domaine Aix.
