The comfortable holiday home, Maison Dehmen, is situated in a quiet corner of a lovely plot (1,000 m²) in a peaceful residential area, a 10-minute walk from the picturesque Provençal village of Varages. Varages lies in the heart of the Provence Verte, the almost perpetually green part of the Var department in Provence, in the south of France. This charming house has three bedrooms, one bathroom and sleeps six people. You’ll have your own private swimming pool (9 by 4 metres) and an outdoor kitchen. Varages is very centrally located in relation to all the attractions, such as the Gorges du Verdon (canoeing, rafting, surfing), the Mediterranean Sea, and the larger towns such as Aix-en-Provence, Marseille and Draguignan. In the immediate vicinity, there are many wine châteaux, charming markets and beautiful golf courses.

Price: per week from Saturday to Saturday, excluding the compulsory end-of-stay cleaning charge per rental period of €100 (max. 2 people) or €125 (max. 6 people).

Includes costs for electricity, gas and water.

Tourist tax: €2 per person (18+) per night.

Inside the house is a very cosy living/dining room with a fully fitted open-plan kitchen (American-style fridge). The living room has a comfortable sofa and a dining table. There are three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed measuring 1.60 m by 2.00 m and a walk-in wardrobe. The second bedroom has a bed measuring 1.40 m by 2.00 m. The third (slightly smaller) bedroom has a double bed measuring 1.60 m by 2.00 m. This room has a small terrace.

The spacious bathroom has an Italian-style shower and two washbasins. There is a separate toilet.

Adjoining the living room is a cosy covered terrace. Next to the swimming pool is the outdoor kitchen with a bar, plancha, sink and fridge. The swimming pool (kidney-shaped) has a ‘plage’ (an underwater bench) and massage jets. The garden offers plenty of cosy spots to relax with a book.

Area

Varages is a small, typical Provençal village with around 100 inhabitants. It is known for its pottery factory (which also sells its wares) and a pottery museum. There is a bakery, a butcher’s, a grocer’s/greengrocer’s and a chemist’s. There are also two cafés, a pizzeria and the restaurant ‘La Provence’, which serves simple, tasty food. The village has a tennis court which can be hired.

It is a 15-minute drive to the charming centre of the town of Barjols. In this town, alongside bakeries, butchers and a supermarket, you will also find several lovely restaurants and terraces. Barjols is a town with a rich history and is known for its 42 fountains and 4 rivers. Barjols’ architecture has been shaped by all this water for centuries. Barjols is situated approximately 55 km from Aix-en-Provence and 30 km from the Gorges du Verdon and Lac de Sainte-Croix. The Mediterranean Sea is just over an hour’s drive away.

Nearby are the stunning Sainte Baume and Sainte Victoire mountain ranges. The highlights of Provence and the French Riviera – Saint-Tropez, Cassis and the Luberon – are easily accessible for a day trip. The famous Gorges du Verdon (which offer lovely walking and climbing routes for keen walkers and climbers) and the beautiful Lac de Sainte Croix are about a 45-minute drive from the house. At the lake, there are water sports such as surfing, sailing, catamaran sailing, canoeing and pedalos. There are also lovely little beaches.

An ideal holiday destination with lovely places to eat, beautiful golf courses (Golf de Barbaroux and Golf de Sainte Baume) and walking routes.

There are also charming markets in the surrounding area in Aups, Villecroze, Salernes and Cotignac.
